In this video, I discuss the top 6 qualities to look when selecting an affiliate marketing partner. It is very important to know what makes a great affiliate program before you just jump in and start spending time, energy, and money on your promotion of your links.

#1 – It is a GREAT product and you can put your reputation behind it

Be sure the product has a lot of value and is not gimmicky or hypey. It truly has to help solve a problem and is credible. It fits your niche and even better, you would use the product if you haven’t already. If you haven’t used the product – review it, study it, and know the strengths of the product before you promote it. Even better, purchase the product and use it in your own business. There is not a better way to promote a product than when you are actually using the product yourself.

#2 – Choose products with higher commission and recurring revenue

When starting out, you may overlook higher priced products thinking they are harder to promote. Not true. If the product is good and has recurring commission structure, don’t hesitate to promote it.

You will see these types of offers with software systems, usually known as SaaS (software as a service). Recurring or monthly commisions are common in software programs like Clickfunnels and Kartra, who provide automated marketing funnels, payment processing, and email follow up.

#3 – Their Affiliate Center is easy to Navigate

Since all affiliate programs are free, you can take the affiliate center for a test ride…before you dive in and spend a considerable amount of time promoting the product.

#4 – They provide lots marketing promotional materials

Many brands will provide their affiliates with tons of promotional materials such as banners, email swipe, landing pages, bonuses, etc. This is huge when first starting out because the brand wants you to be successful when selling their product as an affiliate. This will save you tons of time and energy so you can get up and running with your campaigs quickly.

#5 – Pay attention to vendor transparency

Never join an affiliate program which doesn’t disclose everything. You want to product owners to be transparent and advise on all the rules, terms and conditions, cookie life, payout structure, etc. If the company is short on details on how the program works, when you will get paid, how you will get paid, then stay away and look for something else to promote.

#6 – They offer a long affiliate cookie lifespan.

The affiliate cookie refers to the tiny footprint of data that is stored on one’s computer when an affiliate link is clicked. The affiliate page website will use the cookie to identify and monitor potential buyers who click on your link. This cookie keeps track of the potential customer who clicked on your link for a certain amount of time.

For example, if a prospective buyer clicks on your affiliate link, but doesn’t buy the product, the cookie will stay active for the life of the cookie lifespan. If the cookie lifespan is 90 days and that same prospect comes back to your affiliate link 60 days later, you will still get credit for the sale and receive a commission. The longer the cookie lifespan, the better.

If you are looking to get started with affiliate marketing, you can start with Parner with Anthony Program, which I recommend to those who are just getting started with a limited budget.
